Ambassador Ambience is the first cruise ship to dock at Port Cork (Ireland) in 2023

Complimentary dining at the Oceanview Cafe, the ship's buffet, was available for three meals daily, plus late-night snacks. We started most evenings here, enjoying a cocktail and listening to live music before having dinner. I thought cocktails were reasonably priced at less than $9 each. Some cruisers staying in these cabins have reported noises of things like chairs being moved. This shouldn’t be a big problem, as the buffet isn’t open late into the night but it may be something to bear in mind. The basic design has remained the same, such as the position of the sofa and bed but the furnishings and colours have been updated.

Discover the magic of the Mediterranean and Northern Europe with these Celebrity Silhouette itineraries.

Many guests like to stop by in the evening for one of the specialty dessert cocktails, and chat about a great meal that they had or a wonderful show they just enjoyed. With an atmosphere inspired by ice and snow, the enchanting frosted bar is the place to be in the heart of the "coolest" setting on the ship. An absolute must-visit for its hip and classy feel, swing by The Martini Bar and grab a drink before dinner or make a night of it. This bar has a vibe like no other, which makes it the perfect spot to chill out with friends all night long. Dance the night away in a vibrant nightclub designed for those ready to kick back and get down.

Accessible Staterooms

Celebrity Reflection, the final Solstice-class ship, would follow in 2012. The Martini Bar is a favorite spot overlooking the atrium. Quasar is a retro night club, while Entertainment Court Bar, another new spot, is adjacent, offering cocktails. The Retreat Lounge, also new and just for suite guests, took over the spot where Michael’s Club once was. The dining options that are included in your Celebrity Silhouette cruise fare are totally delicious and more than enough to get you through a cruise without boring you. However, if you’re in the mood to splurge, you also won’t be sorry if you pay for the specialty dining.

You’ll find plenty of entertainment and activities to enjoy aboard Celebrity Silhouette. The theater on Decks 4 and 5 offers a mix of musicals and comedy, with an impressive level of production and talent. The warm atmosphere, comfortable furniture and the sweet scent of the Gelateria’s freshly baked waffle cones create an instant emotional connection.

Locate your stateroom, and our world-class amenities and venues throughout the ship. Our onboard activities and entertainment will make your vacation an unforgettable adventure. On this cruise, we skipped the activities and instead focused on the musical offerings and shows around the ship. It's worth a visit even if just to walk barefoot in the grass while floating in the middle of the ocean. It has no librarian, and taking and returning books is on the honor system.

We went to this show on our first night and ordered regular martinis since we arrived early but were charged $40 for two. The following cabins to avoid were provided by guests who cruised on the Celebrity Silhouette. Guests are also able to use the onboard TV to check their onboard account, as well as watching multiple TV channels.

This private restaurant—open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—features a boldly elegant design as distinctive as its cuisine. Not only is the restaurant exclusive, but so are its menus. I rarely choose to stay in outside/oceanview cabins but have on occasion.

The lunch buffet was outstanding with multiple stations and plenty of food choices to accommodate special diets and allergies. But in my opinion, previous cruises on this ship had a better evening buffet. On this sailing, more than half of the buffet was shut down during the evening.

Celebrity do have cabins designed specifically for solo cruisers, all are inside cabins. The inside cabins on the Celebrity Silhouette start at a size of 17 meters squared. The main reason why cruisers book inside cabins is because of the cheap price but some people also book them because they enjoy the darkness that is gained by not having any windows.

However, the addition of a giant screen showing movies and games has given this space a more egalitarian feel. Set sail on Celebrity Silhouette® and discover amazing enhancements at every turn. You’ll relax in transformed staterooms that are so gorgeous, you may never want to leave your room. Gather for a toast at the newly reimagined Passport Bar or the new Craft Social Bar, a cool and casual spot. Shop in exciting new boutiques featuring the hottest designers.

Top 10 Pablo Cruise Songs

In mid-1981, Price left suddenly and was initially succeeded by Donny Baldwin, who had played with Elvin Bishop and would move on to Jefferson Starship by the summer of 1982. David Perper was next to take over the drum throne and Angelo Rossi was replaced by Stef Birnbaum (aka Stef Burns) after just one album. In 2017 the band was joined by singer/percussionist Robbie Wyckoff who had appeared with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters on his The Wall Live tour. Pablo Cruise is the debut album by the California soft rock group Pablo Cruise, released in 1975.

” and “Love Will Find A Way,”and several other top 20’s, the band went on to sell several million albums and singles collectively and established themselves as well respected writers and performers within the industry. They also became the first rock band to grace the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, but by 1985 after completing several national tours and releasing 7 studio albums in all, the band decided to take a hiatus……one that lasted nearly 20 years. The band then toured again that year with another new member, Jorge Bermudez, on vocals and percussion.

For that price, the luxury hospitality giant says travelers would enjoy a one-to-one guest-to-staff ratio and massive suites spanning as many as four floors. If all goes as planned, the 679-foot-long Four Seasons I could become one of the most expensive and opulent options in the cruise industry. “Cool Love” would become the band’s last top 20 single in the United States. We open our top 10 Pablo Cruise Songs list with the song “Raging Fire.” While we always preferred the up-tempo Pablo Cruise songs over their ballads, they did have some great moments on some of their albums that were filled with sweet-sounding mid-tempo ballads. The harmonies on the track “Raging Fire” echo The Eagles just a bit on this one. The song was released on the band’s breakthrough album, A Place In The Sun. Pablo Cruise released seven albums throughout their career.

Staying ahead of the competition, Ritz-Carlton debuted its first 149-suite Evrima yacht cruise in 2021, with a second 224-cabin ship scheduled to begin sailing later this year. Its least expensive itinerary is currently $5,100 per person for a six-night voyage from Barbados to Puerto Rico in early 2025. Four Seasons says the 9,975-square-foot mansion, partially perched in the ship's glass-lined funnel, will span four floors, four bathrooms, three bedrooms, and three powder rooms. Four Seasons says its vessel will have 95 suites ranging from 537 to 9,975 square feet, some with three bedrooms. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Pablo Cruise, which formed in 1973, had eight studio albums and five singles that reached the top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Mostly due to the rising popularity of new wave, the album struggled with sales. By the end of 1984, Pierce, Birnbaum and Bermudez had left and the group's contract with A&M had come to an end. If you were a loyal Pablo Cruise fan in the 1970s or have ever seen the band live, then you would agree that besides the band’s great vocals harmonies, this was a group of musicians that could play their butts off. We can think of no better way to argue that fact than by presenting this great instrumental entitled “Zero To Sixty In Five.” The song was released on the band’s album Lifeline. With the release of the single “Cool Love,” the band’s commercial success that they had enjoyed with the A Place In The Sun.

The song reached the number six position on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 78, matching the success of  “Whatcha Gonna Do,” released in 1977. Along with Walter Egan’s “Magnet and Steel” and Toby Beau’s “Angel Baby,” “Love Will Find Away” was one of the most popular songs on the radio that summer. As we close in on the number spot on our top 10 Pablo Cruise songs list, we turn to the follow-up single and album, A Place in the Sun. The song “Love Will Find A Way” was a strong follow-up for the band and kept them at the top of the charts again.

From 1975 to 1985 the band toured the United States, Canada and Japan extensively, welcoming fans to “Climb Aboard The Good Ship Pablo Cruise.” Reaching the top 10 with mega hits like “Whatcha Gonna Do When She Says Goodbye? ” and “Love Will Find A Way,”and several other top 20’s, the band went on to sell several million albums and singles collectively and established themselves as well respected writers and performers within the industry. In June 2004 all four original Pablo members were back together playing again at Steve Price's wedding. This led to three of the four—Jenkins, Lerios and Price—deciding to reconvene permanently. Cockrell was not involved this time and George Gabriel joined on bass and vocals. During his time away from Pablo Cruise, Price went on to become a leading figure in providing E-learning and also formed his own aerial photography company. Gabriel left Pablo Cruise in November 2009 and was replaced by veteran bassist Larry Antonino (who has worked with Air Supply, Jeff Beck, Ronnie Laws and many others) in 2010.

Interested in a hotelier-owned vacation at sea but don't want to pay the luxury price tag? Margaritaville's cruise is an affordable $75 for two nights.

However, we have included songs from many of the band’s other albums to show the band’s music and career progress. On November 8, 2011 Pablo Cruise released their first live album, It's Good to Be Live, on the Red Recording label. The live performances were taken from concerts performed at the Blue Goose in Loomis, CA on July 9 and 10, 2010. The CD also featured new versions of their songs "A Place in the Sun" (featuring fellow Red Recording artist Katrina) and "Love Will Find a Way" (with Ty Taylor of Vintage Trouble). Jenkins moved on to join country rockers Southern Pacific in 1987, alongside former Doobie Brothers members Keith Knudsen and John McFee and Creedence Clearwater Revival bass player Stu Cook.

His classmate, Steve Price, signed on as a roadie (because he owned a van) then joined the group on drums when their drummer left. They were eventually to find their way into Stoneground, where they were joined by Jenkins (originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan). The great Pablo Cruise song “A Place In The Sun” was the title track to their 1976 album  A Place In The Sun.

Two of the original members of Pablo Cruise, Cory Lerios and David Jenkins, joined us on The Morning Show to talk about their journey that began 51 years ago and the fact that there really isn’t a band member named Pablo Cruise. Some bands did it better than others, depending on their original style. Pablo Cruise already had an R&B dance feel to some of their songs, so this was not a stretch compared to when bands like Kiss and Queen went the disco route for an album. The single “I Want You Tonight,” was released in 1979 on the album Part of the Game. Our top 10 Pablo Cruise songs list presents ten of our favorite Pablo Cruise songs. A good majority of them were released on their two spectacular albums released in 1977 and 1978.

Based on 2016 passenger traffic numbers reported by CLIA, Miami cruise port was ranked world's largest (4,898 million pax). Follows the list of world's busiest cruise ports with annual shipping traffic over 1 million passengers.

Nicknamed the “Crown of Miami” due to its unique shape, Terminal A is where all Royal Caribbean cruise passengers will depart from when sailing out of Miami. Royal Caribbean sails year round from the Port of Miami, officially known as PortMiami, and offers primarily Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean cruises. Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or are planning your first cruise vacation, here is what you need to know when sailing from PortMiami. The biggest draw, however, is that they offer much cheaper prices than the port. That said, the reviews we’ve seen of these independent lots aren’t always stellar and the lots seem to change hands often. In our opinion, it’s a safer bet to park at the port or with a hotel that offers parking.

If you crave an exhilarating day of adventure on the water, head to Oleta State Park for a myriad of water sports in the Biscayne Bay. If you’re needing an art fix, explore the Perez Art Museum or historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. If a break in nature is needed, there’s no shortage of places to experience wildlife up close, head to Zoo Miami or Miami Seaquarium for interactive shows and encounters. With so many options and things to do, Miami is the perfect place to set the tone for your next cruise adventure. Located at the Dodge Island north part are terminals B/C, D, E , F, G, on the west is terminal H (V) and on the south – terminal J.

MSC Seaside: Cruise the Eastern Caribbean & Bahamas

Also, if you're renting a car to drive around Miami, avoid arguing with other drivers and road rage. Finally, beautiful people abound in Miami, and particularly Miami Beach. The Caribbean population influx also profoundly changed Miami's personality.

In short, MSC Seascape is a big, bustling megaresort at sea of the sort operated by Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival. If it's big ships with lots of activities you love, it's a good choice if your budget is tight. Specifically designed for adults only — no children under the age of 18 are allowed on board — the 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady is all about grownup fun. We're talking everything from rollicking dance parties to a drag show. Come January, Icon of the Seas will take the place of Royal Caribbean's family-friendly Harmony of the Seas in Miami.

The ship's Eastern Caribbean sailings typically are priced a tad lower than its Western Caribbean sailings (when we were pricing them for this guide, they started about $30 per person lower). The Eastern Caribbean trips call at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Nassau, Bahamas; and Ocean Cay, MSC Cruises' private island in the Bahamas. The Western Caribbean voyages stop at Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; and Ocean Cay. Your voyage from Miami promises an exceptional experience with sailings from renowned cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Oceania Cruises.

There are independently-owned lots with lower daily rates located a few miles away. However, the official parking at PortMiami is the most convenient parking option as it is located adjacent to the terminal. No taxis or rideshares are needed when parking in the official lots, and there are free shuttles available to quickly take you from the parking area to the cruise terminal. As the terminal is located on an island, the simplest way to get from the airport or a hotel to the port is through a ride sharing app, such as Uber or Lyft, or a taxi. We mentioned it above, but it takes about minutes in normal traffic to get to the Miami airport from the cruise port.

After the summer season sailing from Cape Liberty, she will return to Miami to restart cruises in November 2022. If you are early for your cruise or need to kill some time before catching a ride to the airport or home, there is a small park at the Miami cruise port. Seafarer’s Park offers a swimming pool, restaurant, tennis courts, basketball court, and a sand volleyball court. It’s where you might find some crew from the cruise ships blowing off steam in between cruises. While that means you’ll have to deal with South Florida traffic, it is a convenient way to get to your ship. Driving offers you the ability to arrive exactly when you want and to leave to get home as soon as you debark the ship.

The high temperature in May in the capital city of Juneau, averages in the mid-50s, with lows in the 40s. Dress in layers of clothing so that you can peel off (or add on) slowly as the thermometer dictates. You will want to pack a bathing suit and a very warm fleece jacket -- and you'll likely wear both at different times.

The Best Time for Whale Watching

Glaciers also get in on the summer action, calving massive chunks into the waters below. The abundance of wildlife in summer creates a captivating spectacle that you won’t want to miss, making it the best time to go on an Alaska cruise. Silversea has “Door-to-Door” pricing on many of its Alaska cruises, meaning the cruise fare includes airfare, hotels, and all transfers—including transfers from home to the departure airport.

Cruising Alaska Between Late Spring and Mid-Summer (Late April – Mid-July)

The fall salmon run also attracts bears and other predatory species to the rivers and shorelines, making viewing them from a cruise ship deck much easier. Humpback whales, orcas, seals, and other marine species are also more active during these months. In this post, I share a month-by-month guide about the best time of year for an Alaskan cruise. I’ve included tips on the weather, wildlife, daylight, and the general experience you’ll have each month of the Alaska cruise season to determine when to set sail for the 49th state. Although you’ll find the highest number of travelers visiting Alaska during the peak cruising (and fishing) months of July and August, the ideal time for your Alaskan cruise depends most on your personal priorities.

The best time to cruise to Alaska for good weather

We'll match you with a local itinerary expert to help you plan your trip. If you want to see fall foliage ashore, wait until the first week of September. Late May and early June are the best possible times to view a momma moose and her calves in Alaska. If you do see these majestic creatures hulking around, stay far back (at least 50 feet) and never disturb a lone calf, as mom is somewhere nearby.

Alaskan Wildlife You Could See While Cruising

Back on the vessel, after a gourmet meal and drinks, evening entertainment is viewing the deep fjords, glaciers, and abundant whales that make Alaska so magical. There’s also complimentary Pilates and yoga, a gym, jogging track, spa, observation library, and a slew of bars and restaurants. If you’re looking to eschew the cruise ship behemoths for something more intimate, this is it—Alaska Dream Cruises’ Alaskan Dream holds only 40 passengers. And because it’s so small, passengers can weigh in on the daily itinerary, perhaps opting to skip a hike in favor of more time photographing the face of a glacier or watching juvenile humpback whales learn to breach. Meals and activities (including going for high-speed Zodiac rides, kayaking, and paddleboarding) are included. In late June through mid-August, brown bears and moose come out to feed in ponds, lakes, and along rivers.

The Best Time to Cruise Alaska

Bring waterproof rain gear, sturdy shoes, a hat and gloves to stay warm and dry. To discover Alaska’s rich historyYou can’t skip Ketchikan, Juneau or Skagway on an itinerary. Ketchikan once was a major player in the timber industry and has a sordid past steeped in bootlegging and brothels.

With the warmer weather, it is not unusual to see an increase in the number of people looking to enjoy Alaska’s untamed wilderness. This is when bears have emerged from hibernation and tend to be fairly active. If you hope to spot a grizzly, you might just have your opportunity if you cruise Alaska during this period, along with viewing moose and even a chance to see more calves or cubs running around. While the most popular time to travel to Alaska on a cruise is June through August, it's also when it tends to be the most expensive. Instead, McDaniel suggested looking at the shoulder months of May and September, when you can save a little money. She added, "May tends to be a pretty dry month, which makes it appealing."

With that in mind, Alaska is still a dynamic destination—no one snapshot of time during the year is guaranteed to encompass all this state has to offer. When traveling from Vancouver in the Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska, the waters are mostly protected and provide smooth sailing. If ports include Anchorage, Seward, or Whittier, cruise ships must cross the Gulf of Alaska, which has notoriously rougher waters. A September cruise has its benefits, including less crowding and cheaper prices.

Then we’ll wrap up by answering some frequently asked questions about Alaskan cruises — the best time to see whales and northern lights, the best time for salmon fishing and similar queries. The cruise season in Alaska is short (just May-September), but what this state lacks in winter tours it makes up for in stunning summer vistas, exciting wildlife and a travelogue of iconic land excursions. With the school year coming to a close, many families take advantage of the opportunity to travel together during the summer months. Alaska offers something for everyone, with activities and experiences that appeal to all ages. Whether you want to hike in the wilderness, go whale watching, or learn about Alaska's history and culture, there is something for everyone.

Skagway was a jumping-off point for the Klondike Gold Rush beyond Chilkoot Pass and has an old railroad to prove it. In addition to cooler temperatures, there is a higher tendency for rain during the late spring. For the most Midnight Sun, come 3 weeks before or after the summer solstice and longest day of the year, June 21.

However, the shoulder seasons (April–May and September–October) are growing in popularity, thanks to fewer crowds, lower-priced cruises and seasonal attractions like the northern lights. The cruise season beefs up in June, with the number of ships growing and the season in full swing by the end of the month. The midnight sun means many hours of daylight, especially on June 20, the longest day of the year — when you'll have to stay up late to see any darkness at all.

For a lot of cruisers, mid-June through mid-July is the peak season, because of optimum weather and daylight. Orcas tend to migrate to (and concentrate in) Southeast Alaska in May and June, while humpback whales are at their peak in June and July. Beluga whales come later in the summer, following the salmon runs in Southcentral Alaska; the best place to see them is around Cook Inlet and the Gulf of Alaska from mid-July through August.

Not only are the flowers and plant life awakening from their wintertime slumber, so is its wildlife. The best time to cruise Alaska isn't obvious—until you're quietly sailing along its calm waters under a cloudless, late-spring sky. Within minutes it seemed everyone on board had gathered at the railings on deck to watch. The captain of the ship nimbly repositioned us, giving both the port and starboard sides prime viewing, at a safe and respectful distance from the animals. With binoculars, cameras, and phones at the ready, the passengers and crew aboard UnCruise Adventures' 86-guest S.S. Legacy settled in for what turned out to be an hour-long private show by a juvenile humpback who had migrated from Hawaii to spend the summer in the nutrient-rich Alaskan waters.

You'll have your pick of itineraries and cabins — balcony cabins are popular in this scenic destination — and often the best fares. If you're interested in Alaska's gold rush history, Skagway — 90 miles northwest of Juneau — is a port you shouldn't miss. In fact, it's the gateway to the Klondike and Dawson mining district in Canada's Yukon territory, where prospectors searched for gold in the late 1890s.

Sailings departing earlier in the season will less frequently be sharing berth space in port with numerous other ships, meaning that crowds in the ports will be somewhat lighter. You’ll enjoy wildlife viewing, warmer temperatures, and daylight returns to more typical hours. However, the dry season has ended, so rainfall will begin to increase as the month progresses. Traditionally, July and August have been considered the best time to cruise to Alaska, as these months offer warm sun, long days, and abundant wildlife.

Plus, as prices are cheaper in the shoulder season, it can be an excellent opportunity to upgrade your stateroom category or splurge on add-ons like excursions, dining packages, or beverage packages. On average, more than half the days in the month of August experience rain. This may seem like a reason to skip an Alaska cruise in August, but it's still a great time to take in lots of activities around the state. One downside to July is the price of your cruise will be higher than other months of the year. It's the very peak of the Alaska cruise season, which makes July expensive. The median months will see higher temperatures and longer days for touring, and it represents the limited summer that Alaska enjoys.
